Victoria wasted no time storming off toward the metal door
and into Derrick’s office. Stopping as she recognized Jake Foyers up close in
person she gasped again. “What the hell is this?” she demanded as Perry moved
behind her to shut the door.

11: So, It Begins…Pt. 1
“Where exactly are you taking me?” Victoria asked as she slid off the back of Derrick’s motorcycle. He parked it behind a large office building and the two started walking toward the red-light district, a place that’s hosted a crime scene or three in her time. “Um…Derrick?”
Her head jerked at the sound of cans rustling behind her and
she found herself staring at a bum pushing a shopping cart filled with cans
toward an alleyway. “Relax, Detective. Your nerves are giving off a scent.”

10: Murder in the First-Degree Pt. 3
“Here, birdy, birdy,” Victoria called as she set a bowl of peanuts, corn flakes and strawberries beneath her garage door. “Come on, birdy, I know you’re here.” She pulled a small ladder from the garage and climbed to the top rung. Peeking her head above the roof she checked for a nest hoping her little friend had started building a home. Victoria sighed in disappointment not finding anything and started on her way down.

09: Murder in the First-Degree Pt. 2
“Have you seen the papers?” Mike asked slamming a copy onto Mason’s desk as he barged his way into the man’s office. “They are making Victoria out to be some kind of cop on an abuse of power trip; making up…all kinds of lies about her! I mean how the hell did they even get wind of this?”
“Rizzitello, calm down. I’m sure there’s an explanation for
it.”
“Yeah, there is. Those bastards down at IAD are trying to
put on the heat and make her do something stupid. They think this cheap tactic
is going to scare her into confessing something that’s never fucking happened!
I can’t believe it. I can’t believe how calm you can be just sitting there like
nothing’s happening while a damn good homicide detective is being persecuted
like this! This is bullshit, Captain!”

08: Murder in the First-Degree Pt. 1
Two men dressed in neatly pressed, black business suits
started toward Victoria and Mike as they stood near the posting wall delving
into the new cases and pending notes from previous convictions. “Detective Carson?”
asked the taller of the two. He was a medium built man of African descent with
dark circles beneath his brown eyes. He wore a wedding band on his left hand
with a matching gold watch. The hair on his face was neatly trimmed and from
what could be seen he was athletic which spoke of a man who respected his body.

07: The Good Samaritan Pt. 3
“You heard me right, Vik, that thumb drive has aided in the arrest of seven 4th Street Riders
with affiliations to the Family with two more scheduled within the week. Where
did you find this thing?”
“I had help from a friend. We were able to have Philip
‘Sketch’ Martin arrested for the murder of Jake Foyers and with the evidence on
that drive we have more than enough to prove motive. The rest should be easy. CSU
collected enough trace evidence from the scene but we never had anything to
compare it to. I hear we already have a positive on a hair follicle found on
the ground beneath the exhaust, we don’t really need more to make our case but
I anticipate it’ll all add up.”

06: The Good Samaritan Pt. 2
“Geez, Derrick, is this the danger you were referring to?”
Victoria asked holding still in her position beside the door.
“Not quite. Shad, you wanna get that gun off my girl before
you lose that arm?”

05: The Good Samaritan Pt. 1
“Excuse me I’m looking for Detective Carson. I understand she
works at this precinct.”
“And what is your business with the Detective?”
“Oh, it’s a private matter. She’s kindly looking into a case
for me and I am just curious if she’s come across new information is all.” The
desk sergeant looked up into the eyes of the man and grunted as he pulled the
receiver off the base punching in the number to the detective’s unit.

04: Don’t Lose Your Head pt. 4
Victoria found a folder waiting on her desk when she
arrived. She turned the manila file around her hand a moment before letting it
fall open on her desk. “Marie dropped that off for you,” Detective Franklin
replied as he walked past her desk toward the break room.
“Thanks.” She took a seat and went over the information from
the record. Ballistics noted nothing unusual about the bullets used on either
victim but the same caliber as well as markings were found on bullets found at
a crime scene some six years earlier. Forensics found a blue chalky substance
on one of the doors leading into the back of the warehouse with no trace of
where the matter originated. It was believed to have been left by the suspect
or suspects. Teflon was noted as the material.

03: Don’t Lose Your Head pt. 3
Mike gained speed tossing his siren on the dash as he turned
a corner and barely avoided hitting a parked car near a stop sign. He rushed
through a four way stop into another intersection as drivers pulled off to the
side to let him pass, moving quicker as he found a small area with less cars.
“Do you know where you’re going?” Victoria asked as she held on for dear life
around another corner.
